Competing Health Systems Join To Improve Care (08.23.10)

"We have a common vision that we need to change the way we provide high quality, cost effective clinical care. The alliance allows us to share the necessary expenses and expertise," said Dennis Goeschel, MD, ACA board chairman and medical director of ambulatory services for UNMC Physicians in an article published in Becker's Hospital Review.

The Accountable Care Alliance has been featured in an article published August 23 in Becker's Hospital Review. The article highlights the efforts of Nebraska Methodist Health System and The Nebraska Medical Center, local competing health systems, in forming an accountable care organization (ACO) with the purpose of:

  • Managing transitions from hospital to home care
  • Reducing hospital admissions
  • Decreasing overall healthcare costs.
