Accountable Care Alliance Highlighted in National News (03.12.10)

The Accountable Care Alliance has been highlighted in the national media for its leadership in forming a working accountable care organization. CNBC and the Associated Press reported on the partnership while HealthLeaders Media gave the organization kudos for its innovation in setting aside rivalry to advance patient care. 

As the only two competing systems in the U.S. attempting to share information and form an accountable care organization (ACO), HealthLeaders was interested in speaking with both Ken Klaasmeyer from Methodist Health System and Rita Potter from The Nebraska Medical Center.

HealthLeaders' senior editor Cheryl Clark explains: "The idea (of an ACO) is that by having their physicians and surgeons, nurses and other providers track patients from the hospital to the physician's office to the home, each system will drastically reduce avoidable hospital readmissions and improve patient compliance."
